S-Band Transmitter for Pico and Nanosatellites

The HISPICO Transmitter is a highly integrated S band transmitter with special focus in design and testing for Pico and Nano satellite applications.
Its design consists of 2 main components ( PC boards):

  • Radio Frond End (HI-RFE)
  • Controller (HI-CTR)

The HI-RFE Module contains the intrinsic transmitter. The HI-CTR Controller Module is used for whole data processing, data encoding, digital-to-analog (D/A) conversion of transmits signals, transfer of control data to/from the on-board processor and power supply of both modules.

Both components are interfaced to each other via internal connectors. An aluminum housing carries the individual PC boards and be fixed to the satellite body by 4 drill-holes. For external interfacing, a system connector ( for data, power supply and I/O – input/output) and an antenna connector are available.

The whole transmitter equipment can be activated and de-activated by the on-board processor. Furthermore, current status signals are available for the on-board processor.
